> Colombo Chief Magstrate Rashmika Singappuli today sentenced two individuals who had damaged, defiled and insulted Buddhism by selling key tags with the image of Lord Buddha.

> The accused Tuan Rajabdeen of Colombo 14 and Aboobucker Kaleel of Ferguson Road were produced before the court by the Pettah Police complaining that the accused had sold the key tags with Lord Buddha's image at First Cross Street, Colombo.

> The Police complained that the accused had committed an offence punishable under section 290 of the Penal Code for damaging, defiling and insulting Buddhism and had intentionally wounded the religious feelings of Buddhists.

> The accused pleaded guilty and the magistrate sentenced them for one year rigorous imprisonment suspended for two years.
